How to Cook Healthy Homemade Spinach Pasta

Homemade Spinach Pasta

Homemade Spinach Pasta is very easy to make. It tastes much better than store-bought brands, especially if you make it yourself. There are many different recipes for Spinach Pasta. I have decided to share my favorite ones and my tips on how to cook them.

Ingredients You Will Need

To make homemade spinach pasta, you will need several components. First, you will need about four cups of dry baby spinach (peeled and chopped). You also will need three cups of loosely packed pasta sauce, one-quarter teaspoon of dried basil (or oregano), and one-quarter teaspoon of dried oregano (or red pepper flakes, finely chopped). Other ingredients may be added depending on your recipe.

Next, you will add all the ingredients to a large saucepan. Over low heat, slowly bring the mixture to a boil. Add some water if the mixture seems too thin, or add more water if it seems too thick. Once the mixture begins to boil, check on the water level, making sure it doesn’t boil over.

Once the water has boiled, remove from heat and cover. Let sit for at least thirty minutes to allow the pasta to rest. The longer you let it sit, the thicker and chewy it will become. When you feel the time is right, remove the cover and slice the cooked spinach paste into small pieces. Now, it’s time to get creative with your homemade spinach pasta!

Many grocery stores sell pre-packaged ingredients for making homemade spinach pasta. Often these ingredients include wheat or whole grain flour. You can also buy a bread machine to make the dough. The only problem with using pre-packaged ingredients is that sometimes you may not have all the ingredients needed to create the dish you want fully.

Find The Recipe

For this reason, I like to find recipes online or in cookbooks that use ingredients I already have. For example, I often find recipes for fresh spinach pasta that calls for dry semolina flour. I keep one of these flour packets in my kitchen at all times. When I crave something sweet, I go to the packet, and I have an amazing dessert. Sometimes it’s not quite as easy as just buying pre-packaged ingredients, but with a little ingenuity and a good sense of what your family likes, making homemade dishes can be a very rewarding experience.

If you are new to making homemade food, you should start simple. Start with a 10-minute wait for the dough to rise. It will take a longer time if the dough has not risen by completing your first loop. You can get a kitchen aid stand mixer to help you in your dough looping. Using your stand mixer, beat the egg and sugar until they are blended.

Mixing The Ingredients

Mix these two dry ingredients until they are completely combined. Then you will want to add in your egg mixture and your flour mixture until the ingredients are completely blended. Turn your machine on to knead. Let the machine do its thing. In about five minutes, you will have the homemade spinach pasta dough you desire.

You can cut it into pieces you desire and then shape them into the pasta tubes. Form each piece into its ball with a rubber cutter or a sharp knife. Let the machine do its thing, and in about five minutes, you will have some delicious Italian food. You may decide to cook the pasta right away, or you may choose to let it rest so the ingredients can get to work. This is totally up to you.

When the dough is done, you can then add the pasta ingredients and the nutritional yeast if you used it. Make sure you mix this well so that the ingredients combine well. In about ten minutes, you will have some delicious and fresh homemade spinach pasta. You can serve it hot or cold.

As an alternative to using all-purpose flour, you might want to try using three tablespoons of breadcrumbs. Mix this with a tablespoon or two of olive oil. Then add the egg and mix thoroughly. When this mixture becomes smooth, fold in the third of the crumbs and cover the entire mixture with another egg layer.
